[20250417] Introduction Speech at Workers' Party Press Conference
Good afternoon. I'm Kenneth Tiong, a father of two young children. I work in tech as an executive and coder, and I’ve worked in finance as an analyst and macro trader.
Like many of my generation, I see the global technological revolution, but worry the future isn't being built here in Singapore. Many feel a pull – the dilemma of needing to go elsewhere to reach our full potential to align our careers and lives with this revolution, be it Silicon Valley or Massachusetts, Denmark or London, Shanghai or Shenzhen.
I'm stepping up because I share the dream of making Singapore a place where we build that future, through real homegrown innovation. And building that future requires both cutting-edge ideas and a workforce that feels secure and valued enough to embrace change. My conviction comes from seeing this need, not from political ambition.
I joined the Workers' Party because its core values align with this mission, a mission focused on working for Singapore and all Singaporeans: strengthening our local enterprises, ensuring fairness and a strong safety net for all Singaporeans, upholding the right to family, and providing that rational, responsible voice we need.
If elected, I will champion three core things:
First, making Singapore a leader in innovation, creating great jobs right here.
Second, strengthening economic security and fairness for every Singaporean family, because security fuels progress.
Third, fighting for strong family foundations: affordable public housing, the highest education standards for every child, and upholding the fundamental right to build a family, including lower-income Singaporeans and those with foreign spouses.
